Varda Hardy is an award winning indie writer/director committed to creating meaningful and engaging content including both scripted, documentary and branded entertainment, Her innovative work has enjoyed great success at film festivals, has been broadcast nationally, and has gone viral on the web.
Her shorts have garnered multiple awards, most notably her film “Window” starring Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. “Window” received Heartland’s coveted “Crystal Heart Award”, screened at Cannes, was named one of the most “moving shorts” of 2007 by Moving Pictures Magazine and has been syndicated to local networks across the United States.
Varda enjoys creating rich content for the web. She wrote and directed the provocative sixteen-part web series “Runaway Stars”, executive produced by Deepak Nayar (“Bend it Like Beckham”) and co-wrote and directed the four-part web pilot “House of Heather” for Executive Producers Conrad Riggs (“Survivor”) and Robert Lawrence (“Clueless”).
Her Branded Entertainment projects include “Summer Fun” created for Team Detroit’s launch of the 2010 Ford Mustang, “Race to the Sky” featuring the Lincoln MKS, which aired during the Grammy Awards and Walmart’s “HD American Portraits”. "What Kind Of Planet Are We On?” the viral video she created for MZA Events generated over half a million views on YouTube and her short film “Ode To Los Angeles” sponsored by LA INC. received the Grand Prize from the New Filmmakers/LA On Location Project. Varda has also created branded entertainment for Disney, The California Almond Board, Rock Prodigy and others.
Following a global search for cutting edge directors, SHOOT magazine selected Varda’s work to be featured in their prestigious New Director’s Showcase. Varda is currently developing scripted feature projects and is in production on the uplifting feature documentary BIG VOICE. She co-chairs Women in Film PSA Program.
