From Fire | Documentary

Karen’s film career started in South Africa when she directed a documentary about the famous controversial choreographer Robin Orlin.  She followed that with work in television post production, most notably working on “Shaka Zulu” – one of the largest international productions ever filmed in South Africa. 

 

Karen went on to a successful career in event production, supervising over 500 events in numerous countries, ranging from seminars and benefits to large-scale concerts.  Upon her return to the film industry, Karen directed documentaries and created content for the Women In Film PSA Program receiving multiple creative awards and official recognition from the City of Los Angeles and the U.S. House of Representatives. Her work was also showcased before the Hollywood elite at the famed Crystal Lucy Awards.

 

She has produced numerous award-winning independent films, TV commercials and interactive/transmedia projects working with executive producers Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like Beckham), Conrad Riggs (Survivor, Apprentice) and Robert Lawrence (Clueless). Clients include the Discovery, BET, and GAC networks, and brands such as Cisco, Scion, LA Phil Orchestra,  and the U.S. Military.
