Karen Lavender

Karen Lavender’s film career started in South Africa when she directed a documentary about the famous, controversial choreographer Robin Orlin. She worked in television post production and on Shaka Zulu – one of the largest international productions ever filmed in South Africa.


She went on to maintain a successful career in event production, supervising over 500 events in numerous countries, ranging from seminars and benefits to music concerts.


Upon her return to the film industry,  Karen started by directing documentaries dealing with human rights issues. She became actively involved in the Women In Film PSA Program, recently receiving an official Commendation from the City of LA and US House of Representatives for a PSA she directed about the Gang Alternatives Program.


Karen has served as an in-house commercial producer for Turbine Films and is the co-founder and Executive Producer of LiveTribe Productions.  She has directed or produced numerous independent film projects and music videos, collecting multiple awards for her work as both director and producer.
